AMI Restricted Educational Fund

The Association of Medical Illustrators Restricted Educational Fund (AMI Fund) was established in 2013 to support professional continuing education activities of the AMI and its members. The AMI Fund will benefit the Association's current professional, associate, student and potential members, as well as provide education about the profession to the public and professional stakeholders.

Because biomedical visualization advances translation of life science research and medical discovery into visual media, our members require continuing medical and digital technology education. Monies from the AMI Fund will support conference speakers, fund educational seminars and workshops, support dissemination of conference proceedings, and underwrite online continuing education programs.

The Illustrators' Partnership of America is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting illustrators' intellectual property rights and creating a mechanism to professionally administer collective management of individual illustrators' rights and bring accountability to the disposition of illustrators' reprographic royalties. AMI was IPA's first partner in the IPA Reprographics Coalition.

The American Society of Illustrators' Partnership is the formal non-profit incorporation of the Illustrators' Partnership Reprographics Coalition, comprising 14 illustration associations representing over 5,000 of the most prolific and widely published illustrators in the world. They have united to establish a collecting society by making a proper claim on illustrators' reprographic royalties, and creating a collecting and distributing mechanism to return this income to the rightsholders who've earned it. AMI is one of the 6 founders of ASIP.

Artists Rights Society (ARS) is the preeminent copyright, licensing, and monitoring organization for visual artists in the United States. Founded in 1987, ARS represents the intellectual property rights interests of over 122,000 visual artists and their estates from around the world.



The Board of Certification of Medical Illustrators administers a program for the certification of medical illustrators. It provides a recognizable means of signifying a practitioner's current competency in the profession of medical illustration. The certification program and examination process is based on Standards established by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA). The NCCA, along with its parent body, the National Organization for Competency Assurance (NOCA), are recognized leaders in setting quality standards for credentialing organizations to ensure the health, welfare, and safety of the public.

The Journal of Biocommunication is managed by the Journal Management Board, which is made up of representatives of participating organizations: ABCD, AMI, and BCA. This board is ultimately responsible for decisions regarding design and format of the Journal, as well as fiscal and personnel decisions relating to the Journal's operation.

The BioCommunications Association is an international association of media professionals who create and use quality images in visual communications for teaching, documentation and presentations in the life sciences and medicine.
