AMI’s 2017 Conference will take place at the AT&T Executive Education and Conference Center in Austin, Texas Sunday, July 23 – Wednesday, July 26, 2017. 

As home to Blanton Museum of Art, one of the foremost university art museums in the country, and the Harry Ransom Center, featuring the First Photograph and Gutenburg Bible, Austin is known for its vibrant contemporary art scene and creative spirit.  In 2016, SMU’s National Center for Arts Research ranked it one of the top 20 large cities with the most vibrant art communities.  If you’ve never visited Austin, prepare to be charmed by a unique city full of innovators, visionaries and artists.

DOn’t forget to bring a few extra doallars to grab yourself the coveted and collectable 2017 Edition AMI Collector Playing Card Deck, designed by Texas Native, Jennifer E. Fairman. The 3rd edition of playing cards showcases the beautiful art of the AMI’s newest professional members and their mentors. Decks are printed on Casino Grade 310gsm French Linen stock and packed in a custom tuck box. This is a limited edition run of only 150 decks. Pre-sale of decks will take place at the Mentor Mixer following the Salon Opening with decks available every day at the Vesalius Trust table. Proceeds from the sale of the card decks will go to the Vesalius Trust AMI Restricted Educational Fund. Two uncut deck sheets will be auctioned off at the Vesalius Trust Event. $20/deck while supplies last!

Go to Bat for the Vesalius Trust!

Monday, July 24 at 7pm: You are invited to the Vesalius Trust dinner event – build your own taco and enjoy the live auction. A fun evening is planned where we will go a little batty for VT scholarship and research. Did you know that Austin’s Congress Avenue Bridge is home to 1.5 million bats? Get into the bat theme with bat accessories like ears, hats, masks, jewelry, t-shirts – whatever inspires you. The crowd will vote on the most creative expression and reward the winners. The ticket price is 50% dinner and 50% donation and you will not be pressured to give any more.  Fine art from some of our most talented members will be featured at the live auction. The event will be held at Gabriel’s Pub inside the hotel. Space is very limited so you are encouraged to buy your ticket soon. Registration is NOT included in AMI meeting registration. Vesalius Trust Poster Session: Monday, July 24 from 3:00pm-3:30pm, Ballroom Foyer

The Vesalius Trust, in association with Association of Medical Illustrators, will be holding its 2017 Annual Poster Session at the upcoming Annual Conference. All 2016 applicants to the VT Scholarship program have an opportunity to present at this year’s Annual Vesalius Trust Poster Session. In other worlds, you do not have to have received a VT Scholarship or Grant to take part. Participation is voluntary for all applicants, and would be in addition to those who have been asked to present at the Vesalian Scholars Session. Presentation of research is open to all 2016 Vesalius Trust Research Grant applicants. You MUST be present at the AMI conference session to participate. The cost of printing is covered. All posters will be printed ahead of Austin – information follows below on how to prepare and where to send your digital files. A Best Poster Award and/or an Honorable Mention will be given.
